Vishwakumara Kayargadde, Ph.D., Founder and CEO

Vishwakumara Kayargadde

Vishwa is an active technology entrepreneur with over 20 years of industry and research experience. He is one of the co-founders of Saankhya Labs and as CEO he drives the overall company strategy on products, financing, marketing and execution.

Prior to Saankhya he co-founded Smart Yantra technologies in 2001, a high technology product start-up; one of India’s first video streaming IP companies. Smart Yantra was acquired by Genesis Microchip in 2004.

His experience includes product strategy, execution, financing and technology research and development. He has been responsible for building and sustaining highly motivated technology teams at Saankhya and Smart Yantra. Under his leadership, Smart Yantra acquired several international clients. Post acquisition, at Genesis, he built the technology team at Bangalore, reporting to the CTO, where he was responsible for the delivery several key IPs. Prior to founding Smart Yantra, he was at Philips Consumer Electronics where he contributed to the system and software architecture for a new range of analog and digital TVs. Prior to this, his research at Philips Research Labs resulted in the development of computational models for estimation of image quality.

Vishwa was awarded Ph. D. from Eindhoven University of Technology, The Netherlands, for his contribution on computational models for image quality prediction, in 1995. He obtained M.E in ECE from Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore in 1989. Vishwa has co-authored several publications in leading international journals.

Parag Naik, Founder, CTO and VP Marketing

Parag Naik

Parag is a serial entrepreneur with over 18 years of industry experience, out of which 9 years have been in high technology startups. At Saankhya he is the CTO and one of key contributors to the Saankhya SDR concept architecture. He drives the overall technology and strategic roadmaps of the company and is directly responsible for the Wireless DSP, DSP firmware, DSP tool and Systems groups. He is also responsible for Product Marketing and Business Development. He is one of the co-founders of the company and is a member of the Board of Directors.

Prior to Saankhya he co-founded Smart Yantra technologies one of India’s first Video IP streaming companies in 2001 and Vayavya Labs India’s first Electronic Design Automation Company in 2006. Both companies are high technology product companies. Smart Yantra was acquired by Genesis Microchip in 2004.

His work experience includes product conception and development, system/software architecture, building and binding strong technical teams and product marketing. He has built strongly motivated technology teams in Saankhya, Vayavya and Smart Yantra .At Vayavya, he is one of key contributors in the definition of a patented Device Driver generator product. This product is first of its kind in the industry and the company’s flagship product. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors and advises Vayavya on technology aspects.

At Smart Yantra he was the CTO and was responsible for the overall technology and product roadmap of the company. He conceived and architected the world’s first Video over Wi-Fi system solution that won several awards. Post acquisition in Genesis ( 2004-2006), he built the DTV demodulation technology team at Bangalore, as part of the CTO office. At Ishoni Networks a Telecom Networking startup he was one of the early members and one of the key architects of the world’s first Gateway on Chip solution. At Philips Research and Consumer Electronics he was instrumental in defining software and system architectures for a range of Analog and Digital TV ICs. He was also one of the founding members of Philips India Design Centre in 1995. From 1992 to 1995 Parag worked as a private contractor to a reputed Indian Defence Organization. Here he designed and developed embedded hardware and software for the indigenous Light Combat Aircraft project. He has 9 (3 issued, 6 pending) US and India patents in the areas of CPU/SDR architecture, Digital Communications, Signal Processing and Hardware-Software Co-design/ Code generators.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Karnatak University, India.

Hemant Mallapur, Founder and VP Engineering

Hemant Mallapur

Hemant has over 18 years of industry experience in IC product development and engineering management. He was one of the early members of Sage Inc which went public in 1999 and was later acquired by Genesis Microchip. At Sage, he led the development of company's commercially successful Video Processing chips for Digital TV's & LCD monitors, including the award winning FLI2300. As head of DTV VLSI group at Genesis, he managed the development of the company's first HDTV SoC. Earlier he worked at Synopsys Inc in methodology development and in the consulting group. Prior to that at Paxonet Inc he worked on ICs for PC and Graphics. He was nominated for the EDN ASIA Innovator Award in 2000. He has filed for 2 US patents and co-authored 3 papers in international conferences.

Anindya Saha, Associate VP - VLSI

Anindya Saha

Anindya has 14 years of industry experience, which include product development and technical management at Texas Instruments and Broadcom. At TI Anindya was responsible for design of AR7-DSL and residential gateway chips. He was the awarded the title of MGTS while at TI. At Broadcom, Anindya designed and architected MIPS based CPU subsystem for the XGS Ethernet switch family. He holds 4 US patents, has filed for 2 more US patents and has co-authored 3 publications in international conferences.

Shivaram Bhat, Associate VP - Finance & Operations

Shivaram Bhat

Shivaram Bhat has over 14 years’ experience in Finance, Operations and Statutory compliance. His experience includes among other things, obtaining ISO Certification, Oracle ERP implementation and operations related to STPI scheme. Prior to Saankhya Labs, Shivaram Bhat was head of Finance & Operations at Emulex Communications Pvt Ltd, a 100% subsidiary of Emulex Corporation (NYSE:ELX). His earlier stints include Star Search Technologies, a subsidiary of UK and Global Edge Software.

Shivaram Bhat is a Chartered Accountant by qualification.

Sunil H. R., Associate VP – Software

Sunil

Sunil has over 13 years of industry experience, which includes Embedded System Design, Software architecture for multi core Systems and Software Systems and Tool Design. Before Saankhya, Sunil was part of Genesis Microchip and led the DSP team towards the company's first HDTV SoC. Sunil was one of the co-founders of Smart Yantra Technologies where he helped architect the solution for World's first Video over Wi-Fi system. Prior to Smart Yantra he was with GE Medical Systems. Sunil holds an Engineering Degree from Malnad College of Engineering - University of Mysore and an MS degree from MAHE University.

Vivek Kimbahune, Director of Sales & Business Development

Vivek

As Director of Sales & Business Development, Vivek Kimbahune drives all the Sales & Business development initiatives of the company. His responsibility includes worldwide strategic planning, key account management, co-ordination and management of key distributors, representatives and support teams globally. He also assists in Sales operations, procurement, brand building and day-to-day operations of the company.

Prior to Saankhya Labs, Vivek Kimbahune was with Genesis Microchip (NASDAQ:GNSS now NYSE:STM) handling key accounts in Europe, Turkey & India. Earlier to GNSS, Vivek Kimbahune was one of the core team members at Smart Yantra, a successful multimedia streaming IP company later acquired by GNSS. At Smart Yantra he won several designs in US, Japan & Taiwan and managed business partnerships in China, Taiwan, Singapore, Japan & UK.

Vivek Kimbahune has over 14 years’ experience and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from Karnatak University, India.

S Harish Krishnan, Director – Technology

Harish

Harish has over 12 years of experience that includes algorithms development, product development and technical management at Tata Elxsi, Sage Inc. and Genesis Microchip. In Saankhya Labs, he leads the algorithm development team that is responsible for conceptualizing, designing and implementing various algorithms that form part of communication receivers. Starting as a design engineer at Tata Elxsi, Harish subsequently joined Sage Inc., a high technology start-up. Here he developed and managed firmware for various LCD multimedia monitor and TV ICs. Later at Genesis Microchip he was instrumental in productizing key technologies (such as Video Decoders, Scalars etc.) that went into volume production with top tier TV manufacturers. He later moved to the technology group where involved himself in development of next generation communication receiver technologies. Some of his work resulted in patents for the company. He holds one US patent, has filed five patents and has co-authored a publication at an IEEE international conference.

Gururaj B Padaki, Director - DSP Software

Gururaj has about 10 years of industry experience in software architecture for DTV and multimedia systems. He was one of the early members of Smart Yantra technologies which got acquired by Genesis Microchip. At Smart Yantra, he led the development of company's commercially successful multimedia codecs and the world's first Video over Wi-Fi system solution.

At Genesis Microchip, he was one of key members in taking from concept to productization the company's first digital television chip. At Saankhya Labs Gururaj leads the DSP software team where he is involved in design and architecture of world's first Software-Defined Universal Demodulator IC for Digital and Analog TV reception.

Abdul Aziz, Principal System Architect

Abdul Aziz has 25 years of industry experience in System Design. At Saankhya Labs he leads the Systems team which develops TV Reference, Evaluation Boards and Prototyping platform around FPGAs . He architected Saankhya’s SOC Debug subsystem and Software Debug Tool-chain. Aziz has filed for 3 US patents.

Earlier he co-founded Smart Yantra, a media streaming IP Company. At Smart Yantra he designed products around Smart Yantra’s IP such as a Wireless Monitor which was the world's first Video-over- Wi-Fi solution. Smart Yantra was acquired by Genesis Microchip in 2004 where Aziz was responsible for DTV Middle-ware Stack and Conditional Access System Software.

Earlier Aziz was a founding member of Philips Software Center, Bangalore, where he worked for Consumer Electronics and Business Electronics groups. He architected a "Public Address System control Software", a "Software Test Bench for Software TS MUX" used in DTV Transmission Head-end equipment. He was a consultant for Process automation, control and instrumentation for Plastic, Petrochemical and Soap industries. Aziz did his Diploma in Computer Technology in 1986.
